How Does Blood Actually Move Throughout The Body, Because With

How does blood actually move throughout the body, because with gravity and stuff shouldn't your blood be going down? How does blood go through different directions? Or could it be that one pump of the heart is that powerful? I need to know this because I'm doing a project for school.
