How Effective Is Keppra In The Treatment Of Primary Epilepsy?

My daughter just got diagnosed with Primary Generalised Epilepsy after EEG showed some abnormalities. She only had one provoked seizure by lack of sleep last June 2014. She has a prescription of 1000mg a day Keppra and I am unsure if this will provoke seizures that she doesn t have now if she misses or takes different times? She is going on a school trip to Florida In less then 2 weeks, and I am holding on starting her medication as I do not know how she will react, and if it may provoke seizures while she is away. Should I wait or start now? We have been scared of this medication from the beggining as she never took anything before and seems just find without.
