How Effective Is The Depovera Shot?

I got on the depovera shot on Dec 15 , the nurse inform me to wait 7 days before I become sexually active,I'd waited til dec 28th, is there a possibility that I might be pregnant. I have not had my period and I am a little skeptical about this/ How accurate is the shot?
