How Long Does Recovery Take After A Double Bypass?

My mother in law had a double bypass a week ago. Her oxygen has been and so has her blood pressure. The surgeon is determined to release her from the hospital and insists that she is fine. She is not eating as well as she should. We were told she had some fluid in her lungs and was put on a machine to clean that out. Why hasn t she stabilized yet?
