How Long Does Shingles Infection Stay Contagious?

hi . I had shingles about 3 weeks ago. I am still burning on my left side. Sometimes it just comes out in a burst or stays for awhile. Am i still contagious? I am just concerned because I have a mom that is ill with cancer and i don t want it to spread to her. Thank you Cora
