How Long Does Sperm Stay In Women's Body?

He ejaculated inside of me, the next day I got my period. I know im not pregnant but can't I still get pregnant once my period is over? I know sperm can live inside a woman's body that's why im afraid that I could still get pregnant once my period is over and an egg is released for the sperm to hatch on it.
