How Long Should I Continue Taking Doxycycline For Chlamydia Infection?

I was treated for pid and given meds for gonorrhea chlamydia....symptoms were heavy discharge horrible odor itching tampon greenish yellow...meds given shot 9pills script docycline hyclate...smell went away instantly discharge almost gone....swab test came back negative for gonorrhea. Chlamydia....can't. See gynecologist. three weeks....what could this be 5days on meds now should i still take doxycycline?
