How Long Will It Take For A Nail To Regenerate After Pulling Out Completely?

I injured my left big toe. The nail was lose and discolored, I eventually pulled the entire nail off clean even at the cuticle. How long will this take to grow back? Will I be able to play basketball during that process? Should I see a doctor about infection?
