How Safe Is Taking Amoxicillin For Ear Infection?

Have been on amoxicillin for a week to treat ear infection. The pain has gone but my ear is still blocked should I just wait and hope it goes in time? My doctor can only see me if its an emergency, not sure its a valid emergency or not as its bearable but unpleasant.
