How Safe Is Treating Gall Stones By Gallbladder Removal Surgery?

I am having stomach pains and had to go to the emergency room the other night. Pain radiating from inside my right side back throughout my torso. Initially they thought it was kidney stones but after MRI, they discovered 2 gallstones. Recommended that I see a surgeon about removing the gallbladder. My concern is after effects of having the gallbladder removed.
