How Safe Is Using Ciprodex Drops For Pressure And Fullness In Ear Due To Ruptured Eardrum?
Hello Dr. Bhatti,
One month ago I was struck on the side of the head and it ruptured my left eardrum. My hearing immediately decreased followed by a constant feeling of pressure and fullness, in addition to a slight "hiss" as if I were to put my ear up to a sea shell.
I soon got on ciprodex ear drops and saw my ENT three weeks later. He told me I still have a tiny hole in my eardrum and that my hearing test revealed that the trauma did not damage my ossicles or anything. He said it would likely heal and I should return in two months for a follow up.
The next day, the pressure in my ear released and my hearing slightly improved. To keep the pressure from returning, I had to slightly tense my back neck muscles and exhale quickly through my nose. This seemed to clear the pressure.
This method worked for two days and then suddenly my condition relapsed....what could have caused this relapse...could it possibly be the method by which i was clearing my ear of pressure? Thanks!
