How Should A Cervical Polyp Abnormality Be Treated?

During my last annual exam, my doctor removed part of a cervical polyp and told me most are benign. They called me back this week and said the polyp came back as "abnormal" which could turn cancerous. They want me to come back in 3 months for another checkup. Should I be worried about this? What are the possible future prognoses? Should they be doing something earlier than in 3 months?
