How Should An Ear Lump With Hardness And Pain Be Treated?

Hi, i have found a lump behind my ear. It feels really hard and like it is on the bone. It is about the size of a grape and is painful and tender to touch.
Can anyone please reasure me as i always think the worst and am very worried. I am going to make a doctors appointment aswell.
