How Soon After You Begin Taking The Sugar Pills On Birth Control Do You Start Your Period?

I am on birth control but I skip my period for three months then have my period. My question is do sugar pills start your period even if you are pregnant. I just have a feeling i might be pregnant but it is too soon to take a test. How can I tell without waiting to see if i miss my period? And if sugar pills start your period?
