How To Avoid Electric Shock Caused During Usage Of Pacemaker?

My mother has a pacemaker and when the rep checked it he laid the lead wire from his machine on her coat with a metal snap and it shocked her three or four times really hard. Her body has felt really weird to the point that she can t even describe it ever since. Do you know what this did to her.
