How To Cure Boils And Black Spots On Buttocks?

how can you tell the difference between a tick bit and a boil on your butt? Mine is very sore but there is no pus nor does it come to a head. There does appear to be a black spot. It looks like a boil but do they have black spots? I have recently been camping around ticks but i also have gotten boils before in that area.
