How To Cure Dry Skin Patches?

Hello :) I have dry patches of skin on my face, and nothing that I put on seems to work, I have tried ointments lotions ect. It looks irritates my skin even more. Lotion or face cream is making a my face feel like it's on fire. What's going on ?
