How To Cure Hard Lump Caused Due To Swelling Of Vein At Back Of Head?

I hurt the back of my hand today and the vein swelled to a hard lump. I iced and went back to work. Tonight however the back of my hand from the wrist down is quite sore and if touched feels like it is burning. Will a bruise cream help, or ice/heat again?
