How To Cure Prolonged Sore Throat?

I have had a sore throat for almost a year - just underwent surgery in Sept to remove a large kidney cyst, which was pushing up on my diaphram and liver, so Dr's thought it was causing reflux and that is why my throat was so sore. Don't have typical reflux symptoms, just very raw irritated throat. I have been taking benefibre for about a year now and am wondering if the benefibre could cause this throat irritation. I stopped taking in 2 days ago to see if there is any relief - perhaps I'm allergic to it's ingredients. Today, my throat is still sore, but more bearable. Any thoughts on what this could be
