How To Cure Severe Spasms In Left Leg After Having Catheter?

I am a paraplegic and have been for 4yrs I have had a catheter in good just short of a year. On Wednesday of last week I took it out and started using intermittent catheters, but since taking the catheter out I have been experiencing severe spasms. I spoke to my GP today he said he's not sure what the cause could be. I take 2 1mg of clonazepam twice daily....He's told me to take up to up to 2 1mg x4 to relieve the spasms. He did say that my urethra could be gong into spasm, but the spasm ifs only affecting my left leg which I fine strange. In good medical opinion what is the answer?
