How To Cure Skin Tags On Tongue?

I have 2 areas on the bottom of my tongue that appear to be like skin tags... one of them has been very painful for approx. 2 weeks... I originally thought I had bit my tongue... it does not appear to be clearing up... is this a benign condition that will disappear on its own or should I consult my physician?
