How To Cure Vaginal Dryness Which Is Observed After Having Sex?

hi, im a sexually active female. I noticed after intercourse my vagina would be very tender, i just thought it was because it was "rough". i also noticed that during so i am quite dry. the next time my parter and i are together i am planning to suggest some sort of lubricant, to see how that plays out with my issue. but i was more so wondering if this is something that could potentially be really serious and i should see a gynaecologist or if lube and less "rough" sex could do the trick.
