How To Deal With Jealous And Possessive Nature In Partner?

Hi, I have a partner who has had jelous episodes on and off for the last 13 years. Its not jealously about being unfaithful but irrational jelousy about all sorts of funny things - an example is that at the moment he is very jelous about me going to a male chiropractor. Has even followed me there and accused me of having secrets . There are other examples which I don t need to go in to, but it is very disturbing when it happens and makes me feel very on edge and totally perplexed! There is nothing in my life which I am not willing to confide in him but his very behaviour makes it so unpleasant I do keep appointments to myself which just makes him more crazy . He distances himself from me and becomes very cold until he is finally over it - until the next time. I am 61 years old by the way!! and while I could think that this behaviour is flattering, it actually just feels very destructive to me. I won t discuss it with him any more as it is pointless as he does not want to take responsibility for this behaviour. I need some advice on this as I don t really want to face the option of ending the relationship????
