How To Determine Ovulation Day?

Hi,my gynae.perscribed clomid for me to take and told me to take them day 1-5 of cycle.Everywhere i look,it says to stard day 5,7 or 9...

Also hows the best way for me to know when i am ovulating. I usually do on day 14/15 and get ovulation pains. Will it be the same with clomid?
