How To Diagnose Presence Of HSV Infection In Infants?

My newborn was misdiagnosed as HSV infection and went through two very high dosage of acyclovir (they want to give the third dose and the 14 day treatment and I firmly rejected it), a whole bunch of IV fluid and nine pokes for LP but none of the four physicians were able to get any CSF. I was "forced" to "accept" all the procedures even though I almost begged all the doctors to do the LP after all the other molecular diagnosis tests, as my baby had no signs or symptoms but only two tiny suspicious "vesicle" like lesions. I am still doubtful that if those "lesions" are "vesicles" at all and they are gone once we are back from the hospital. During those whole process, nobody asked me some important risking factors such as my sexual or social history, and how my baby was delivered (he is vaginally delivered). And plus, a virus infected newborn can gain one oz per day???? one of the physicians was spending more than half an hour talking me into the antivirus treatment but he never even look at my baby. What is going on here?
