How To Get Rid Of A Tiny Painful Bump On My Nipple?

There is a tiny bump on my nipple and it hurts when I touch it. I can kind of lift it up but it is still attached to the rest of my nipple and hurts when I attempt to remove it so I've left it alone. What is it and what can I do to relieve the pain or remove the bump?
