How To Get Rid Of Painful Ganglion Cyst On Right Wrist?

Hello, I have a rather large ganglion cyst on my right wrist. It's begining to cause me a littlr bit of pain !!! I would like to know what I can do to get rid of it for good ? I would also like to know what caused it . I'm a health 54 year old female and I never had any problems of this kind before. One day it just began to appear and grow. It went away and then it came back !!!!
