How To Get Rid Of Painful Lump On Lower Ankle?

I have a lump on my lower right ankle, it is blue in color. I ve had it as long as I can remember. Years back I was told not to worry about it. But recently it has been kind of painful. Sometimes I feel a shooting pain up my calf from it. It actually sticks out farther then my ankle bone.id say it s almost an inch in diameter.
