How To Get Rid Of Painful Wart On Finger?

I have a wart on my pinkie finger that has spread under my nail. It has been there for 2 years. Now I have one on the finger beside it spreading under my nail. They are painful because I occasionally hit them on things. What is the best way to get rid of them? My 8 yr old son had about 20 on his legs and feet....a doctor tried freezing them and bug juice but nothing worked. We asked him to prescribe liquid Tagamet and after 3 weeks every wart was gone.....will it work in adults?? Desperate for these annoying warts to be GONE!!
