How To Get Rid Of Raised White Patches On The Scalp Of Children?

My 7 yr old son has thick, raised, well-demarcated, whitish patches (with no associated redness) on his scalp. Most are approximately 1/2 inch in diameter, a couple which are not much bigger than a 1/8 inch in diameter. They do not itch and there is no discernable hair loss.
