How To Get Rid Of Smegma?

I am a 36 y.o. female std free and I have just started accumulating what appears to be flaky particles of dead skin from my labia minora. I bathe regularly and it comes back by the next morning. I have been researching online and I think it might be smegma. If it is how do I reduce it? Why am I getting this now? I never it before.
