How To Get Rid Of Surgery Scar On Upper Lip?

I have a basal cell cancer lesion on my upper lip and my dermatologist has referred me to another dermatologist who specializes in the MOHS procedure. I have a concern about a huge scar and am wanting to go to a plastic surgeon in my area who specializes in lip surgery. I am a RN and know the high success rate of the MOHS procedure. I this unreasonable to want to see a plastic surgeon?
