How To Get Rid Of The Stitch Scar On The Forehead?

Hi,I met with an accident when i was 6 year old which leavs me a 5 cm long stich scar on my forhead.Now I am 25 years old and i want to remove this scar.Is there any option other than plastic surgery to remove this??? I heared that there is an ointment in US which can reduce the effect of this scar.Is it true?
