How To Manage Bleeding After Inserting Mirena IUD ?

I have the Mirena IUD insert. I had it done on October 15, 2007. The first year was okay. During 2008-2009, I have experienced missed periods some months and the bleeding is driving me crazy. I cannot tell the difference between my regular menustral cyle and IUD bleeding. I have been bleeding since February 08, 2010 and I have not stopped to date (February 22, 2010). I called my doctor today becasue I cannot take all of this bleeding anymore-it has begun to weaken my body. I am experienceing sooooo much blood loss. I have an appointment on March 08, 2010 to have the IUD removed. But, should I be concerned about the length of my bleeding? It appears as if it is stopping. But, every time I think it is done-I use the bathroom and it is back again (usually bright red in color).
