How To Reduce Pain On Top Of The Foot After An Injury?

Hi, I dropped a fire extinguisher on my foot this morning. I can move my toes, but every once in a while I get a sharp pain on the top of my foot. There is a little bit of redness but no discoloration. Should I go get a X-ray done, or just treat it with ice?
