How To Relieve Hot Pain On Lower Back?

I get very hot pain on my lower back of my left shoulder. I am not sure but it might be called (flank) The pain is excrutiating it lasts up to an hour. I usually try and get someone to message the area (flank) I also use ice packs. Then it subsides. It feels like I have a burning iron in that spot. Thank you for your input
