How To Remove A Splinter From The Skin?

A few days ago, I leaned up against plexiglass and received some painful splinters. Unfortunetally, I cannot see the splinters, but I know they are there. I have unsuccessfully tried to take out the splinters with tweezers, and I and not sure what else to do. My question is, will the splinters come out on their own?
