How To Remove The Silver Nitrate Applied On The Inside Of The Lips?

hi. i went to the doctor today with a pretty bad ulcer on the inside of my lip and she gave me some silver nitrate sticks to apply to the ulcer. i was just wondering if the silver nitrate will go away on it own or if i will need to remove it myself? and if i need to remove it, how do i go about doing this?
