How To Safely Remove A Q-tip Stuck Inside The Ear Canal?

hi. The cotton tip of the q-tip got stuck in my husbands ear canal. I tried looking into his canal to see if it was at the edge but I cant see it. He is planning to go to the Dr tomorrow morning to get it checked out but is there anything else he can do right now to help it get out? Or to prevent by permanent damage to his ear?
