How To Treat A Knot And Tenderness In The Thigh Region Caused Due To A Injury?

Hi i tripped and fell in my house on 1/2/15. When i fell the lateral side of my left thigh landed on an old antique decorative log. It caused a 4 × 1.5 hard knot at the top part of the injury area with a palpable indention below the knot and it took 3 days to begin bruising. The knot lasted about 4-6 weeks and i was unable to sleep on my left side or sit on that side of my leg. I am still having tenderness in that area, the indent is still palpable, and if i sit in certain ways if causes my whole leg to ache or on occasion a slight numbing ache like my leg is going to sleep. My mobility and gait are in no way impaired. What could cause this and should i be concerned?
