How To Treat Burning Sensation Due To A Cast Covering On Foot Post Surgery?

I had foot surgery two 1/2 weeks ago and have been in a cast for 1 1/2 weeks. I am allowed to walk in this cast but have found that it is burning despite keeping it elevated and iced between walking. Should I be concerned? Is this normal? I ve never had a foot cast before.
