How To Treat Flu And Fever Despite Having Asthma?

My 16 year old daughter has the flu with fever for the last 4 days. She is a normal healthy girl otherwise. She was told at a recent doctors appointment that because she has eczema, she needs to be evaluated for asthma by otorhinolaryngogy. She is complaing that she isn't breathing well and refuses over the counter medication to alleviate her symptoms including a dose of an inhaler. Do you have any suggestions?
