How To Treat Severe Chest Pain Caused Due To Chronic Cough?

I have had an awful cough since 12/27/14. It is a dry, hacking cough and nothing comes up. I've been taking Publix brand, Tussin DM, but it doesn't seem to affect my cough. In the last 3 days, my upper chest has been hurting, especially over the area of my heart. It feels like pleurisy (I had that as a kid), but it's higher up on my chest than the pleurisy I recall as a kid - this pain is between my heart and neck.
