How To Treat Severe Pain And Itchiness Caused Due To A Burn On Thigh?

I have a huge burn on my outer thigh. My doctor has prescribed antibiotics and a change of dressing everyday and I think the wound is healing. However, there are some sharp sensations on the wound everyday-sometimes, it is a sharp stabbing pain, at other times, it is a terrible sensation, as if the entire wound is about to peel off from my thigh. Sometimes, it itches so hard I almost pull my hair out. Is this normal? Do burn wounds pain/itch as they heal?
