How To Treat Severe Pain Caused Due To Tampon Insertion?

the first time I inserted a tampon I felt fine afterwards. a few hours later I took it out and felt an extreme amount of pain. I was about to put in another one when I felt extremely faint. the next thing I knew I was on the floor. I d passed out. it was a fairly quick recovery but a very strange response in my opinion. what do you think could be the problem? btw Im positive it was inserted correctly (I was at overnight camp and a friend assisted me).
