How To Treat Skin Staph Infection On Face?

I have had bilateral earache, post nasal drip, upper body aches and a sore throat (I think swollen tonsils) for approximately 5 days. Two months ago I was told I had a skin staph infection on my face which is resistant to penicillin and had to be surgically opened. I am concerned they may be releated and I am not sure if I should see a doctor or wait it out?
