How To Treat Strep Throat?

I have had strep throat on and off for a couple months now. It got so bad, I went into the ER about a month ago - they gave me penecillin and told me to take it, it would go away. I did the full course of meds, and now the strep is back and worse than before...I can't swallow anything.
