How To Treat Swelling Of Gland Above Adam's Apple ?

hello, i just noticed what i thought was a bug bite on my neck above my adams apple to the right. however it appears that under what i thought was a bug bite, it feels like there is a knot, like a swollen gland. would a bug bite do that, or does it sound like it might be something more serious?
