How To Treat The Toe After Removing The Nail?

My husband had his toe nail removed on Thursday. He was told to soak twice a day in warm water and put a band aid. Is that enough?should he be on an antibiotic? The toe is bloody and drains constantly. Should I use peroxide? Thanks He is 68 years, 200lbs and has had atrial fib, treated with coumadin for over 20 years, very active, golfs 4 days a week. Thanks
