How To Treat Withdrawal Symptoms From Effexor?

Hi, My daughter is 20 years old and trying to wean off Pristiq. She was taking Affexor but the withdrawals were too severe so the psychiatrist switched her over to 50 mg. of Pristiq three weeks ago. The Dr. suggested that she lower the dose to 25 mg. by cutting the pill in 1/2 and her withdrawal symptoms are horrendous. We re scared. Can you recommend a supplement or something other than another medication that can alleviate some of these horrible withdrawal sypmtoms?
